They can’t just flip a switch and supply the refinieries in the Chicago market for example without Canadian crude. They have one supply source, the Enbridge Canadian mainline system. Even if you had excess crude in Texas it can’t get to the refineries uo north, and the refineries in Texas can’t refine extra product and can’t transport it back north if they could.

If he enacts tariffs on crude oil and natural gas the impact will be immediate on many of the battleground states in terms of rising energy costs. It would take decades to try to wean the us off of our energy sources, if it were even possible.
Sure, my point is that Trump does not give a ####. And this idea that he would exclude the one product that matters to Alberta is laughable. Why would he do that? Electricity costs would skyrocket in a lot more places than fuel would skyrocket so I would guess the first thing that Trump would exempt is electricity if he were to exempt anything.
