Being Asian, I also use sesame oil, but it's never under high heat as the high heat I've heard from Kenji Lopez-Alt changes the flavour - I add it when cooking is mostly done to maintain its flavour or to some Chinese/Japanese sauces.
Sesame oil is good for flavours but isn't suitable for cooking at really high temperatures because of it's low burn point (350F compared to canola oil at 450F), so it really depends on what you are making.

As for avocado oil, it isn't really in the budget for a lot of people. For example, according to Wal-Mart's website, 1L of avocado oil or olive oil is ~$15 while 1L of canola oil is ~$5. That is a huge difference for people trying to make ends meet.

It has less to do with personal use in cooking though which is relatively small for a lot of households, but more to do with what it in the produced foods they buy. What kind of oil is used in crackers, bread, other baked goods, and things like frozen foods that people buy. Chances are, it is cheaper oil in order to keep the prices more affordable and competitive. If they start banning seed oils, they better be ready for a massive increase in food costs for a lot of families.
