You have to think that is what Conroy, Maloney, and Edwards are most concerned about. Montreal is facing those challenges as their fans hoped they would see a step forward and they are in 30th place. The bottom 5 teams from last year are the bottom 5 teams in the league nearly a quarter of the way into the season. The Flames are playing above all expectations right now in part because the team is working hard and there are the veteran 6 who are leading the way in the room.
For me personally I hope the Flames maximize the Andersson asset and I would prefer a return like Lindholm but with a much better prospect than Brzustewicz but getting a pick and a teams top 3-5 prospect would be a nice start. I do not want any aggressive attempts at getting better until the summer of 2026 when they are entering the last season in the Dome and hopefully have a top 5 pick from the 2026 draft in the stable.

Montreal made stupid trades for Newhook and Dach. Not sure what Chicago is doing, and San Jose has 18 and 19 year olds on the team.
They are also 4-5 points back of 15th place in the league, a lot can change.
