Raz is worth a good deal more than Cozens, I’d say.

To BUF: Andersson
To CGY: Cozens, 2025 1st round pick (top-10 protected)

That’s the value I’d expect to see. Buffalo trading “potential” for the far and away best player in the trade.

So, if you’re adding Kadri into the deal (as that 2 for 2 trade shows) - in my eyes you’re effectively saying Krebs is worth Kadri + 1st, and we know that’s not right.

While some may be undervaluing Cozens, I think you’re probably drastically undervaluing Andersson. The only reason the Flames should be trading Andersson is because he doesn’t fit our timeline.

To BUF: Andersson, Kadri
To CGY: Cozens, Krebs, 1st round pick or Helenius

That’s not a “crazy” deal in my eyes, but one I’d probably do. Get Cozens + 1st for Andersson, move away from Kadri’s age and contract for Krebs.

Depth centre then becomes:

1. Zary
2. Cozens
3. Backlund
4. Krebs

Flames still lack the high-end centre they need, but at least the group is beginning to look like it could build into something.

For Kadri, being in Buffalo is about as close to Toronto as he can get without playing for the Leafs again. Buffalo gets better today, and moves on from a player that they may not see as a long-term player in Cozens. They then look at their defensive group as:

Dahlin - Andersson
Power - Byram

That foursome is unreal in my eyes. Best in the league? I think with some time, yes.

While their centres are:

1. Thompson (C/RW)
2. Kadri
3. McLeod
4. Lafferty

With Kulich, Helenius (unless included), Wahlberg, Ostlund as players that can play that position as well.
