Everybody has come out of that situation better. Wolf was brought along slowly and now has the right conditions to emerge as a star. Vladar is able to slide into a 1B role to build his game and value back up. Markstrom can chase a cup in the Eastern Conference. Jersey found its missing piece. Calgary added a long-term second pair beast, plus a premium futures asset.
Everybody wins.

Flames have a lot of goalie depth. Markstrom was one of the last remaining high priced vets. I think moving him was a fairly easy decision.
