The first two prequel movies are essentially just a bunch of annoying meandering that really doesn't add much. Yes, they set up the backstory that the Jedi are arrogant and Palpatine was working right under their noses to take them down. There really wasn't two movies of plot there though, and the films are filled with straight up annoying characters taking up screen time.

Maul had potential, but ended up being some ballet artist who gets chopped in half. Does anyone care about Dooku? They somehow found a way to make the Clone Wars boring.

Stuff actually happens in Episode 3, which makes it a much better and more tolerable film.
