The flames are currently sitting at 16 points after 14 games played. Around 0.57 hockey.

If they keep at that same pace the rest of the year - that puts them at 94 points by the end of the year. Last year, that would have had them finish just outside the playoffs in the western conference. Picking 16th overall. If this were the case, the flames pick would go to Montreal.

If the flames play at a lower pace and end up playing 0.500 hockey for the rest of the year, that’s 84 points. Last year, that would have had them picking 11th overall. If this were the case, the flames pick would go to Montreal.

If the flames really struggle the rest of the year and play around 0.400 hockey, that’s around 70 points. Last year, that would have had them picking 5th overall. If this were the case, the panthers pick would go to Montreal.

If the flames play at a higher pace of 0.600 hockey, that’s around 98 points. Last year, that would have had them in the last wild card spot and their pick would be 19th overall. If this were the case, the flames pick would go to Montreal.

These are just a few scenarios but I could honestly see any of them playing out for the flames this year at this point. If Wolf+Vladar keep playing well, I wouldn’t expect the flames to drop below a 0.500 pace unless they trade Andersson during the season.

Are there many players on the flames performing at a pace that is unsustainable? The team shooting percentage is 9.9% which is 23rd in the league. The goaltending has been solid but not at a level that I would think is unsustainable. It’s possible the team is playing over their heads so far this season but I think you could argue their record at this point is deserved and they could keep this pace up for the year.

Yeah, it's getting kinda interesting. I personally think that adds some time pressure to trade andersson and maybe a forward away sooner rather than later. But who knows.
