Backlund doesn't need to be an outlet for Rasmus behind his own net. He doesn't have to be marking Marchand tight either, but he should be close enough to not let Marchand get two uncontested whacks if the puck gets to him out of the puck battle.
If Andersson wins the battle behind and is only able to throw that corner far Backlund would get there first, so the bigger concern for any center would be if Andersson loses the puck battle and the Bruins top player is wide open in front.
