I think you need to separate "the left" from liberals. American liberals are centre-right. The American left is Bernie Sanders, etc. The left has been pounding the "make things better for working class people and stop the elitist bull####" since 2016. Liberals are the ones who keep playing the virtue-signal, identity politics, and courting neocons game.
