That's exactly a campaign issue, though. I'm not in the US, but I talked to plenty of people there, and they all echoed that kind of sentiment (which, by the way, made yesterday super fun as people texted me how happy they were that Trump won and everything was so awesome...but I digress).

The fact is, Democrats needed to campaign on the strength of the economy. They needed to push the message that unemployment is historically low, inflation has dropped significantly, the stock market is at all-time highs, and GDP is growing at a reasonable rate. Instead, the campaign was this mushy talk on that subject that didn't push back at all.

I will say that the inflation piece is almost impossible, though. The reality is that Trump's policies, while he was in office, allowed it to flame up, and people don't understand that dropping inflation doesn't mean prices go down; it means they rise at a slower rate. What people want to see is deflation, and frankly, that is only happening if you have a huge economic issue (and no one actually wants that).
