White people getting outraged on behalf of Hispanics over Trump’s comments is nice and all. But Democrats would probably do better to find out what actually matters to Hispanics.
A lot of people lump all Hispanic people together, but they are extremely diverse.

Many are religiously conservative. Issues like abortion, gay marriage, etc..may take precedent over any other issues, and they aren't taking a liberal stance on these issues.

Another important point is that only eligible Hispanic voters actually vote. Many of these people are strongly opposed to illegal migration, after having to go through the legal migration process. Others aren't recent migrants and trace their history in the USA back to conflicts with Spain in the 1800s.

They don't want illegal migrants competing for jobs or living undocumented in their neighborhoods. Many may be working class or high income earners and prioritizing economic issues. There are clearly other Hispanic voters who would support naturalizing many of the illegal migrants or making the immigration process easier, but the issue is from clear cut or unanimous.

The Democrats really fell into one of the traps of identity politics, where they ended up racially profiling Hispanic people. You can't ride into town on a white horse and state you are going to help illegal migrants and expect to get Hispanic voters coming out for you.
