Default Live Free or Die Hard

First off, I am the biggest Die Hard fan, so it would be hard for me to hate this movie. Die Hard is easily my favorite series.

So I went and saw it last night and I thought it was one of the best pure action popcorn fluff movies I have seen in a long time. It was way over the top even for a die hard movie, but that was okay. The moment you start thinking to yourself, "That could never happen!!" you're missing the damn point. I thought Bruce was fine, although, John McLane seemed to have lost some of his swagger. There was a couple good one liners, Justin Long was good. The villain was alright I guess, not as sadistic as Jeremy Irons or Alan Rickman, but those would have been big shoes to fill for anyone.

When I heard this movie was a PG-13 rating(in the US, 14A in Canada), I was pretty upset, but I didn't think the movie lost much by not having any F words or any gore. There was still plenty of killing and plenty of explosions to keep you occupied. Reading the IMDB boards, people were trying to petition the studio for them to release a R rated version and I can't do anything but roll my eyes at the idiots.

I hate comparing sequels to predeccesors, I would rather review a movie on its own merit, but if I had to, I would say it had the best action of the four, although, the first was the best overall movie.

7.5/10
