Yeah, going into 2024 with Biden as the guaranteed nominee was always a spectacularly bad idea that basically ensured that they'd be underdogs in the election.

But trotting out people like Liz Cheney in an attempt to entice a type of Republican voter that basically doesn't exist anymore was always a very questionable plan. Swing voters don't give a **** about what Liz Cheney has to say, and you're turning off part of your base by doing that.

And I really do question whether the US is capable of electing a woman President at this point.

But really, whatever Harris' weaknesses and no matter how lacklustre her campaign was, it ultimately comes down to them thinking an 82 year old who is losing his faculties was a good candidate. Biden sticking around until the last minute left no real other option other than Harris, even though she is a pretty weak candidate.
