Pete is 42. In 12 or 16 years, if he's been in public service the whole time, he will be enough of a household name and the country might have come far enough for him to be on a presidential ticket. I just think it is much easier for that country to elect a black person or a woman than a gay man, sadly.
This cycle he would have been the wrong choice because he has a very party-loyalist sort of vibe about him and it would have hit like "there she goes back to the party establishment". They needed a swing state governor and there were really only 4 options there, and once you decide it needs to be a blue wall governor, only two.
