The flip side of that is that the DH/OF positions (along with 1B) are places where you need to have productive bats to have a competitive lineup. The Jays OF/DH at bats had to be among the least productive in baseball.
I agree the infield is harder defensively, but I think over-focusing on defense has been a problem for management. A couple of offense-first players in lower-importance positions is a necessary improvement, imo.
