Diplo has a recent remix of a certain track by a certain famous group entitled "Shhake It Up" that a friend of mine put on at a house party the other day and everybody went crazy. It's basically the Beatles with a drum break beneath it, but damn, Diplo makes it sound lovely. And everybody seriously went nuts when it came on- a fun, drunk party song.
Another solid EP that just dropped recently is Ayres & Tittsworth's Ultimate T & A EP, featuring 6 soul classics that are reworked with a bit of B'More house flair and drum break treatment. Earth, Wind, & Fire, Stevie, Ray, James, & Minnie get reworked 2007 style and the result is lovely. I think my favorite track is Tittsworth's version of "September" by EWF- gets my head nodding every time I hear it.
These are worth checking out if hearing an old school track with a breakbeat or two underneath doesn't make you punch babies. You old timer, you.
