As long as they have no family back home they still care about, because the North Korean believes in punishing family lines for generations for the "crimes" of an individual.
I do have to wonder about the logic of sending them to Ukraine just in time for winter followed by mud season. They are introdusing them to the war at the worst possible time of the year.
