The Flames couldn't really do anything until the legal proceedings played out, other than letting his contract expire and not resigning him which is what they did.
Dube isn't going to come out and apologize or say anything until the case is settled, and if the Flames had done anything else, they would have been put in position for a defamation suit if he is not found guilty at trial.
