They have 3 points in 5 games. If they dig a bigger hole, they won't get out of it, and at that point I would not let the GM make a desperate trade and would fire him instead.
Kevyn Adams sucks. Beefing with your star #1C and watching him go on to win the Cup while you have Peyton Krebs should have gotten him fired. But nope, they allow him to go out and get Lindy Ruff.
