They seem to assume since language doesn’t matter to them it doesn’t matter to the anyone. They hand wave changing societal norms as PC culture run amok and dismiss your “dude cmon don’t be like that” comments as things like outrage quotas. Kinda grinds my gears now that I think about it.
I agree with most of your post but it's not necessarily that the language doesn't matter to them and that's simply engrained from being brought up and lived in different times. As much as we expect people to change we have to remember the old saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" is somewhat relevant in that the brain starts degrading at the age of 40 by about 5% per decade and the rate starts increasing at 60. It's hard enough for some elderly people to be nearly as competent as they used to let alone learn new things and have them engrained. That said, for all we know the poster could be young enough to know better. That's the problem as we just don't know which makes the arguing pointless.
