Its really early and the Oilers could make us all eat our words.

But this goes beyond a 0-3 start, this goes back through their whole preseason where they looked like trash.

The Oilers fell into a trap, they still think that its about outscoring. Its not, and you can't trade away or let go of your best defensive forwards and plug in offensive players and expect a positive result

Right now the Oilers are leaky in their own end, their vaunted penalty kill is dead.

the oilers last year were an uninspiring 5v5 team that was bolstered by a stellar powerplay. If the powerplay ever faltered the Oilers are likely not a playoff team. So what's happening this year, the Oilers special teams are awful. This also isn't the first game where the Oilers looked like they ran out of gas in the second half of the game, but this one stands out because the Oilers are in a desperate situation and they folded cards.

So here's the problem besides the Oilers having a basically rookie coach that had a new coach bump last year.

I question the Oilers general fitness.

I question Knobby's ability to motivate this team, and the preseason and their start point to that.
I also question the Oilers leadership.
They are an old team that will wear out quicker as well.
The Oilers should have done everything to shore up their defensive conscious up front. The Oilers should have spent what money they had on their blueline.
The Oilers should have bought in a better backup goalie that could push an inconsistent Skinner.

I don't think to be honest that the Oilers will be able to deal with the Flyers speed.
