The other problem with Pettersson is that you have a star player who doesn't impose himself on the game and instead just goes with the flow of it. This is largely tied to the lack of strength and intensity. When you lack those things you're not going to impose yourself.

The worst part about this game is not losing the lead and Silovs looking like ass, but it’s Petey looking the same as he did in the second half and playoffs last year. Not good at all.

No sugar coating this one, that was humiliating. Old, slow and disinterested is not a good recipe to win hockey games. Everybody with a letter should be looking in the mirror tonight and ask what the F they were doing out there, because it was the opposite of leadership. Drai rewards the Oilers for his big extension with a comical performance, but I’m sure his posse will just say he was exhausted. And obviously goaltending was key, Helle was his usual shelf, while Stu #### the bed big time. This was worse than the Vancouver opener last year. So disappointing.

They are the oldest team in the league. Foot speed will be a significant issue
Jeff Skinner, was bought out for a reason and his preseason play and demotion to third line for opening night, does not inspire confidence. I believe his best days are behind him.
Draisaitl will likely regress a lot

Everyone is aging on this team. Kulak, Nuge, Nurse, Ekholm, Hyman, will all likely regress, possibly a steep drop off. This is evidence based for most players in their 30s.
Emberson will be a bright spot along Nurse.
Kulak-Stecher/Dermott pairing will be liability.
Oilers power play has regressed since their historic season 2 years ago. It will continue to recess. It will still be elite, but it won't be enough to lean on for wins.
