I got my cat Oskär an early 9th birthday present: the Litter Robot 4.
The initial sticker shock aside, I highly recommend this thing, especially if you travel.
I love not having to scoop regularly. It's whisper quiet when it cycles, and uses way less litter than a conventional litter box. I did some research prior to its arrival and heard good things about using it with BoxiePro litter, so I switched to that. The A&H Slide Multi-Cat that I'd been buying for years seemed to be getting less effective at keeping odors down the last year or so, so I wonder if they've changed the formula (his health is fine, I checked that).
He was quite curious about what I've affectionately named "TurdBot" in the app (which is pretty slick BTW) and took to using it very quickly. I did add a small sprinkling of the litter from his previous litter box into the machine to help him acclimatize, and he was using it within a couple hours like it was nothing new. The app is cool, it shows the cat's average weight throughout the week, and usage history. 'TurdBot' is Wi-Fi enabled so you can see how full both the litter area and waste drawer are when you're not home which is handy if you have someone house-sitting and need to ask them to change the bag, and you can manually cycle the machine, set a panel lockout, turn on sleep mode, etc.
It's prohibitively expensive for most people, I think, but it beats scooping manually, the odor, and taking up space with a litter box and a LitterLocker (the square Design model sucks compared to the round OG model).
