It would most likely need to be an SUV now, but I wish one of the American premium brands made a modern version of the big ole' American boat, with an all out emphasis on couch-like comfort and smooth buttery ride. A modern take on classic American "luxury" that is inspired by things like plush velour surfaces (or rich Corinthian leather!), colorful interiors in red/blue/tabacco etc, bench seats that stretch for miles, wood and chrome instead of piano black plastic etc. Lincoln kinda sorta started doing with with the Continental and newer SUVs, but hasn't really gone all in. I would like one car that just forgoes any sporty/euro pretence, and goes all in on comfort (and not just with more screens and tech, because there's nothing luxurious about staring at another damn screen).
It doesn't have to be retro, but just how in the 90s/00s they made a lot of cars to play on Boomer's childhood memories, it may not hurt to start looking at us GenX/Millennial types who remember these cars that our parents/grandparents owned with some fondness. As much as I love 80s German cars, and glorious 90s JDMs, I also loved the old American boats. Whenever I get into a modern American car I'm disappointed how meh they look in comparison. Look inside a Cadillac, and it just seems like a hot mess of curves and plastic, but zero gravitas. I'm not buying something that looks as bland as a Toyota, or tries to ape the Europeans, when I can just get the originals. Those old cars may have been "classy" luxury, but damn if they didn't own it.
