All had their own style or personal input / flare. Some kind of uniqueness. The masks today are every goalie calling DaveArt and asking him to put skulls and a logo and slapping on the team colours. You’re an NHL goalie, not 13 years old.
You're picking out the best of the best then going "the rest suck". The 90s had some awful ones too. If Martin Brodeur played now and his mask showed up here you'd think it was bland and boring. Although I do think it's just a factory now, the style of masks we see now were relatively new in the 90s so guys put some creativity behind then. Now a lot of goalies see it as a chore, they give it to a hack like Dave Art and go "do what you want". Ten layers of invisible wizard tech later and that's that.

MMF is the tough as nails cop that "plays by his own rules". The force keeps suspending him when he crosses the line but he keeps coming back and then cracks a big case.
