I kinda worry about you when you go posting something like this. I won't call you an asshat, but your attitude is very stereotypical of a young male in his early 20's. That being - "the rules don't apply to me".
  • The speed limit is not a required speed. It is a maximum speed limitation. Going over is illegal - just because you don't want it to be illegal doesn't make it legal. You are breaking the law, and risking the lives of others by doing so.
  • Driving under the speed limit is not only legal - most of the time it is safer. I can't believe I have to point that out. It comes down to a simple question of reaction time, breaking distance, and impact force. You can argue that you are more "engaged and aware" because you are driving at unsafe speed, but you can't win an argument with physics.
  • You seem to be under the impression that you are smarter than the millions of dolalrs and thousands of people who have put their time into studying highway civics. Newsflash - you are are part of the lowest common denominator. You are relatively inexperienced, probably don't have a family of your own, and worse yet -like to drive fast. That's a deadly combination. Short of the elderly, your cohort of drivers is the most likely to cause an accident.
