Honzek earned the spot, Pelletier didn’t. The players aren’t dumb, they know that as well.
Any self respecting organization would have done the same. You reward those who earn it.
Also, you seem to assume that Honzek will stick in the NHL which isn’t necessarily the case. Similarly, Pelletier can earn his spot by playing his way in to it. If Honzek does stay for the season, it will be because he has earned it.
