Having a balance of player types is important to team construction. Do we want to end up like Edmonton where all we focus on is offense? A goal prevented = a goal for, and you need responsible low event players to help achieve that to some extent. Pelts fits into the backlund/coleman architype of players responsible in their own zone that play with a bit of a snarl. To me, you need those kind of players sprinkled throughout the line up, not everyone needs to be a high flying scorer.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out but to claim that Pelts has been passed strictly based on "nhl games played" especially after two seasons derailed by injury (especially since he was penciled into the line up last season but lost the season in the first preseason game) seems an aggressive stance to take.

Its not....its based on how he played this camp vs those guys.
