On one hand I think it's terrible that they wouldn't give him a long leash in a clearly rebuilding season. But, it's the Flames we're talking about and they probably think they're going to compete when they shouldn't be.
On the other hand, Pelletier is a small, non-physical player that is supposed to score and hasn't shown much at the NHL level in that regard. And the point that he's starting his 6th season since being drafted, to me, means he's a long shot to do much at the highest level.
