Barrie had an awful year but he is definitely an NHL defenseman, whereas Gilbert and DeSimone are basically filler. In his worst season, Barrie had more points than either of the other two has managed in their career.
Barrie has played over 800 games. Gilbert is 27 years old and has played 82. DeSimone is 29 and has played 38.
