My question is - how reasonable is it for someone to cross at the "unmarked" crosswalk instead of using the marked one? Without giving away where I live, the geography of the intersection makes it very easy to use the marked crosswalk no matter where you are coming from or going to.
I accidently didn't see someone step out into unmarked crosswalk and therefore had to stop short (still in time though) and they started shouting at me for not seeing them quicker. I suspect they use the unmarked crosswalk to try and get this sort of thing to happen and was actually pleased that I didn't see them immediately.

If I understand what you are saying you are suggesting it is smarter and safer for a pedestrian to cross 3 roads, or maybe 2, so that they can use the marked cross walk instead of crossing that road on the unmarked side?
