Also, its ok to give yourself a reward if no one else is going to. But IMO you are in a ####ty ass situation if you're going to get surgery and no one at all is interested in rewarding you just a little bit.
It's not just for you, you're doing this for your relationship and your family. Which is a good thing! And way better than the alternatives. But that doesn't mean you shouldnt get a pat on the back and a sandwich for making the right call.
