Giving up on a 23 year old who has scored extremely well at every level he has played at is bad asset management.
Heck the kid outperformed Zary at every level besides the NHL, so far.
He has exactly one year of "injury history".
It's wild how quickly the sentiment against him has turned.
He had a rough year from a bad shoulder last year and then a preseason where he hasn't put up a tonne a points, but then again, neither have half the vets on the team.
In my opinion losing him on waivers would be extremely poor management of the player.
