I would also like to see his speed take another step this year. And, even more importantly, I’d like to see him become the primary play driver on his line. You don’t really see much of him carrying the puck up the ice in those clips… it’s mostly plays from the top of the circles to the goal in the offensive zone. He definitely has great hands and scoring touch… but I think the quality of a top center in the NHL is the ability to be the primary play driver/puck carrier all over the ice. Right now, McQueen looks to be a goal-scoring center - which is great but I would really like him to add speed, puck carrying and playmaking the way Tage Thompson has as a big centerman for Buffalo.
