I think we failed some other ones as well
Ramo I think could have been better with a different goalie coach, Talbot wasn't terrible, McElhinney, Karlsson and some others come to mind .
Irving , Ortio, Gillies, come to mind and Giguere from a long long time ago . And go ahead and say he was the Michelin man dude was unreal when he needed to be .
Admitted. Goalies are voodoo but they don't have to be. Glad we have the Wranglers here now so we can see , fix , develop them better . What a great luxury

I don’t get the ‘Vladar has been given so much rope’ thing. As if he has been a problem here.
He was brought in as a backup. He’s been deployed as a backup. Markstrom was clearly the starter. 3 seasons, all between 23-27 games and 19-23 starts.
Never sheltered, Markstrom got pretty much all of the starts against non playoff teams.
His save pct has tracked Markstrom’s, his record has been basically equal or better. His first 2 years he was 13-6-2, and 14-6-5 against mostly playoff teams. What more could you ask for?
Last year him and Markstrom were both around .500, on a team that was dismantled and him playing through injury that needed surgery. Lots of stuff going on. You can’t tear down a team to the studs and expect your goalies to achieve good results. I didn’t see Markstrom playing through anything needing surgery and he was no better.
Remember the Kipper years, when the org couldn’t trust the backup and Kipper was starting over 70 games? What more do you want from the guy?
Sigalet said he thinks Vladar is a potential #1. Maybe not a superstar but a starter.
Having said that, Ignatjew has looked very good so far
Wolf has looked good in certain instances, and been torched in others. But that’s not uncommon for any young goalie. Hopefully he can grab the starter role and be a Vezina caliber goalie
It is nice to have good depth and prospects at the position. I think Markstrom was overrated and won’t be particularly missed
