Can they delay inauguration or does failure to certify by set date automatically throw it back to the states to vote? I understood it to be the latter, which given the larger number of republican controlled states means they would elect Trump regardless of the popular vote. Many states have pledged to respect the popular vote in that case, but I’m assuming they are all democratic states.
Can anyone confirm this scenario?
