I think this is a cap circumvention story. Vegas checking to see if NHL would let them get rid of contract in LTIR to create cap space at trade deadline. And then would probably settle with lenner for 100% of salary. Never let a good opportunity go to waste.
The is a near 0% chance lehner would lose his LTIR money by failing to show up for a physical. The NHLPA would fight that to the end and probably win.
Even the NHL isn't stupid enough for this. It's a nice try by the knights tho
