If he's locking up for 8 years that means he is covering his 26-33 year old seasons which is his prime and best chance at a big payday. If I'm him I'd be pointing at the Dahlin contract as what I want at the bare minimum, same age as Dahlin, same draft year, and he'd be arguing he's the better player. Dahlin starts his $11 x 8 this season.

Hmm. I'll admit I've paid less and less attention to new up and comers in recent years, but if you're on my team making 8+ million, you better be making a noticeable difference in team fortunes.
