To me (so far anyway, he's still only 18), Parekh's best comparable is Hughes. And he looks to have every bit as much ability with his skating, edge work, and playmaking. But he has only played against CHLers, where he can do anything he wants - let's give him more than a few days here, to learn what he can and can't do against better competition, before we start getting disappointed in how he looks defensively.

As for Makar, he is a unicorn, and is the only defenseman in the last 50 years with whom you can legitimately compare to Bobby Orr. Let's not use him as a benchmark for the poor kid.
3 games? That’s 2 more than some people normally give on CP.

Seriously though, anyone know an 18 year old? They are still physically developing, never mind the adjustment to the next level. One thing about committed 18 year olds though, you have to manage them to help their development, instead of making it everything everywhere all at once.

I enjoy the young stars as a concept, but to pretend that it’s anything other than friendlies and ice time for young players is way overstating it. It’s a chance to play and have management and coaches see your game.
