Given the choice between this kind of tactic and repeated indiscriminate bombings, I don’t think there is a single person here arguing this is the wrong choice. I would agree that peace is off the table so citing this event as the tipping point is probably misguided, but I also think it’s fair to be concerned about the implication here, especially for those that haven’t completely forgotten the War on Terror. Despite what some of the least intelligent agitators have to say on the subject, nobody here is losing sleep that Hezbollah was the target, people want to know exactly how targeted this was and worry about further escalation. I think that’s fair.
As I said earlier, I hope the people celebrating this and remarking at the intelligence and precision involved (I too am impressed and lean in favour of this) will take pause when looking at Israel’s actions in Gaza, as for all the good this says about their capabilities, it reaffirms the fact that they have the capability and choose not to in Gaza, further strengthening the argument that genocide is absolutely a pursuit of theirs, and that hostages may be a much lower priority than some people believe.
