It's fun to trash the Oilers but it's not super comparable.
Crosby signed a 12 year deal at 14.5% of the cap and he's up for renewal on a contract that covers his 38 and 39 year seasons. He's the only guy that I think took a true discount of the former superstars, and he did it to retain Malkin, Letang, and Fleury.
Ovechkin signed a 13 year deal for $9.5M which was by far the highest salary at the time and 16.8% of the cap. And then took another $9.5M when he was already declining on a deal that most people said would look like an overpayment.
Malkin signed his 8 year $9.5M extension when it was 15% of the cap.
Drasaitl's deal is 15.9% of the cap. It's no discount for sure, but in reality neither Malkin or Ovechkin took discounts on their first major payday's either.

Crosby at 14.5% in his PRIME is full on charity. He is hands down a superstar/one of the GOATS and more valuable vs Draisaitl. Oilers paying 15.9%? Mercenary stuff by the german. Especially a team in dire need of depth.
