I want the kid to turn it around but there’s just nothing in his game that screams confidence or swagger and the little things that should be a no brainer seem like a struggle. I wonder if he’s in his own head, because watching him do just simple plays looks like a challenge for a guy who looked very strong in his draft year.
Real shame.
I will add that Flames brass wanted Parekh to play his aggressive style no matter what, as we saw in both games so far it’s burned him a few times but learning moments for sure. I still love watching how effortless he makes the lateral movement look.
I think he’s trying a bit too hard to make the crazy play that draws attention, though he had a couple behind the back/no look passes that worked but the players were not expecting it. All in due time.

I liked several plays he made. Especially when supporting the play. Nothing that makes you go wow though.
I still think that things will click for Honzek at the AHL level. Right now his game strikes me as something between Jankowski and Klimchuk. Hopefully he finds a better way of using his body to create offense at the pro level.
