A lot of the personal light trucks are on the road, because people own RVs. You only have to look at the campsites around Southern Alberta/BC, and how busy they are, or the multitude of RV storage lots around the city. Most of those require at least a half-ton truck to move around.

Now you've paid 80K+ for a tow vehicle that isn't just going to sit parked all week. One of the members of the family will use this as the daily driver.
