The issue is what they do to fill out the rest of the roster after paying a few star players. If you can't supplement your stars with value signings and shrewd drafting you'll never win a cup. They all seem to think they've made some value signings this off season but only time will tell. Maybe it works out, maybe not but it's not like they have any other choice since they have almost zero prospects coming up that will make a difference within their window.

Really? Draisaitl would have to be a major anomaly to be playing at the very top level post age 34. In 4-5 years, $14 million/year is still going to be a lot of money that only the very best players will get.
