He's a star player and is going to get paid as such. I don't see any issue with that at all as he should be full value for most of the contract. Any team would be happy to pay him like this for what he brings.
The issue is what they do to fill out the rest of the roster after paying a few star players. If you can't supplement your stars with value signings and shrewd drafting you'll never win a cup. They all seem to think they've made some value signings this off season but only time will tell. Maybe it works out, maybe not but it's not like they have any other choice since they have almost zero prospects coming up that will make a difference within their window.
