No seat is ever guaranteed. For the sake of argument though let’s say that they weren’t in any danger whatsoever of losing their seats, shouldn’t that have given them even more reason to say something first before the NDP called it out.
Please don’t tell me that a party lead by a former 2 time shadow minister of finance wasn’t too busy ranting on script about the costs of things like the carbon tax and CBC to notice something that was going to cost the taxpayers well over a hundred million dollars.

C'mon man you can use a bit of logical thinking here.

Not sure what I’ve said to this point would be considered as illogical but you’re welcome to clarify on some of the specifics that you’re implying.

The NDP also backtracked when they realized that the date change by the Liberals on the pretense of honoring Diwali may have had an ulterior motive for a party that is expected to lose over 80 seats and caught the NDP in the election date change controversy (they first voted for it). That's the issue with supply and confidence deals / coalitions, you are the first to be hit when #### hits the fan.

How big of a deal do you consider the pension issue to be?

It should also be noted that the recent Liberal MPs that stepped down (Lametti, O'Reagan, Fillmore, Aldag) had their pensions already secured being from the old 2015 guard, all did their 6 years+ and get no benefit from staying longer on a sinking ship.

Perhaps you’re unfamiliar with how their pensions work but once they are eligible for the pension it increases the longer they serve so I wouldn’t say there’s no benefit.
