I don't think he'll age poorly, I think he'll continue to be productive for many years. It's simply a fair contract. And the problem the Oilers have is that, with fair contracts for him, McDavid and Bouchard, along with the albatross of a contract to Nurse, is that there isn't a lot of cap left to build the rest of the team. That's why the cap is great - it's a zero-sum game.

But aging poorly is a sliding scale. If you're paying him to be a $14M dollar player and his evolution leads him to be a 80-90 point guy more often than not, it's a huge kick in the jewels for the organization.
He's going to slow down, it just comes down to what that actually is, but either way it will be an incredibly hard deal to live up to.
