Imagine this:

You grow up privileged in South Africa and are genuinely smart. You have some trouble connecting with people, but you're insightful, persistent, and ambitious and that brings you friends. You immigrate to Canada because of your sense of adventure, and soon end up at Stanford only to quit 2 days in because you've got a great dot com business idea. You get fabulously wealthy selling a city guide website, then help create an online payment system and sell for even more money.

Now you've got money and some ego, so you decide you're going to beat NASA at the space game so you found a space company and things look very promising very quickly. Your ego says you alone need to solve climate change so 2 years later you invest in and take over an electric vehicle start up. Things go extremely well fairly quickly (with some bumpy parts)

Keep in mind, all this while legions of people are more feeding your ego helping you believe you really are the saviour the world needs. You're fabulously wealthy but you deserve it because literally every idea you have is not just gold, but platinum. If a flash of an idea comes into your head? It's brilliant.

Now, you're getting a bit older and the ideas aren't coming as easy so why not dabble in things that "help" these ideas come. Now you've got great ideas that just need a little more faith. Some people start to doubt you, and worse yet, some people on one end of the political spectrum think you don't deserve all this money and that you're not a saviour.

All it takes is some ketamine and adulation from a right wing army and boom, you've taken the "red pill"
