I have a Varia radar which helps, at least when it goes off I'm aware that a vehicle is coming up from behind and I can make sure I'm closer to the side. I can understand the reasoning behind taking the full lane as by riding on the side you're inviting them to pass...

Was hoping a more experienced cyclist could chime in and express what they do and what works for them.

Cycling is a fantastic sport and has opened up a whole new world for me, but I'm calculating the risk/reward factor...
It’s the reason I switched to mainly gravel. I can hear them coming and there’s way fewer cars.
