Clemente who died at a plane crash at 38, made me then think of Tim Horton (who for sure was not in his prime but was still an active and famous player) who died in a car accident at 44
also pondered Gehrig, very different at all levels of course. sadly had to bow out due to illness in his mid 30s (he had been a star player not long prior) but died a few years later
